Yes!!There are more than temples & the lake to see – here are a few ideas:
DAY TIME
-Butterfly bar (a place to eat and drink butterflies…. Ah sorry I meant surrounded by butterflies)
-Bike ride (take one of our free bikes) or walk along the Tonle Sap Lake Road or along the river (turnleft out of our hostel, take the right before the bridge & walk along the river for about 20 minutes) to see how the locals live
-Shop at the Central Market to pick up a bargain or check out the live eels, pig heads and other local delicacies in the Old Market.
-Get a massage (you cannot walk through the old market area without being invited in by one of the many parlours). The average price is around $6.
-Beauty treatment (try Century Hotel or one of the many others in town)
-Boom Boom Room – for clothes and downloading music for your i-pod
-Landmine museum ($1 donation) or National Museum ($12 entry). No explanation needed.
-Royal Palace and gardens (an easy walk from the hostel if you are in the mood)
-Every night:5pm-7pm - FCC Happy Hour, great opportunity to have a drink at dusk, without breaking the bank ($1 beers) or Dead Fish restaurant – feed crocodiles, eat & drink
-Tuesday nights = music trivia night at Aqua pool (8.30pm) or La Noria shadow puppet and Apsara Dancing (7.30pm).Temple Bar also has free Apsara Dancing every evening
-Wednesday nights = poker night at Aqua pool. $10 buy in for a friendly game.
-Thursday nights = General knowledge trivia night at Funky Monkey.
